New York was ready to celebrate the Knicks winning the NBA championship on Saturday, packing watch parties staged throughout the city and gathering in the streets to revel with their fellow fans — or anyone else who wanted to join in the fun.

Unfortunately, such celebrations usually come with unfortunate footnotes as some people get too rowdy and act out with behaviors that are certain to get them into trouble.

According to the New York Police Department (via FOX 5), 63 people were arrested overnight amid the large crowds gathered throughout city near Madison Square Garden, extending to the areas between Fifth and Ninth Avenues. Eventually, those crowds grew to include tens of thousands of people.

Charges among the 63 arrests included assaulting a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.

Additionally, one shooting was reported near Times Square, injuring a 17-year-old who was taken to the hospital by police because an ambulance could not access the area where the incident took place. The teenager was shot in the left foot, according to CNN. A firearm was recovered at the scene and three people of interest in connection with the shooting were taken into custody.

The NYPD also reported four slashings or stabbings amid the disorder.

Property damage included five school buses that were set on fire or wrecked by people jumping on top of the vehicles and smashing them with bats. Those buses were being used to transport spectators from Manhattan to New Jersey's MetLife Stadium for World Cup matches, police reported.

Several NYPD vehicles also suffered similar damage from people hitting them with bats and jumping onto the cars, as did personal vehicles.

According to police, 10 NYPD officers were injured, including one struck by a glass bottle and another punched in the face.

Saturday's chaos followed unrest that took place after Wednesday's NBA FInals Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, during which the NYPD arrested 15 people and released another 41 with criminal court summonses as people jumped onto vehicles, climbed scaffolding, traffic lights and light poles, and even tried to flip a taxi cab, according to The Athletic.

Video footage showed San Antonio Spurs players having objects thrown at them as they returned to the team hotel following a stunning 107-106 comeback win by the Knicks. The police also reported 10 officers getting injured amid the disorder.
