North Carolina Makes Announcement on Former Four-Star Recruit

As the college basketball season came to an end, programs around the country announced a few prestigious honors for their players.

On Friday, the North Carolina Tar Heels awarded a former blue-chip prospect with the ACC Top Six For Service Award.

Jae'Lyn Withers, a former four-star recruit from the class of 2019 earned the award after his second season at North Carolina.

Withers originally committed to the Louisville Cardinals out of the 2019 high school class. He was ranked as a four-star prospect, listed as the No. 20 power forward and the No. 123 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.

The former blue-chip recruit averaged 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists last season at North Carolina.

He spent his first three seasons at the collegiate level were played at Louisville. Withers has spent the last two seasons with the Tar Heels.

The ACC Top Six For Service Award that Withers earned is presented annually to six student-athletes from each ACC institution who demonstrates dedication to community service.

According to a press release from North Carolina, Withers "created and maintained a mentorship program at a local middle school to help support minority eighth-grade boys as they prepare for the transition to high school."
