Our fith round pick: Keeny KING - DT Alabama

Kenny King
SELECTED BY ARIZONA , ROUND 5, PICK 6, OVERALL PICK 141
DT | (6-2, 281, 4.99) | ALABAMA
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Top high school weight man who finished second in the state shotput with a throw of 57 feet. Played in every game and started all but the opener as an 18-year-old freshman in 1999. Started the first seven games in 2000 before hurting his shoulder and missing three of the last four games. Started every game in '01. Missed time in '02 with an injury to his right shoulder (suffered in the opener) and a neck stinger suffered in mid-November against LSU. Generally played inside at tackle most of '02. Had 50 stops, 14 tackles for loss and 51 sacks in '99; 42-4-11 in 2000; 45-1-11, recorded his first interception and recovered three fumbles in '01 and 51-7-3 in '02.

Positives: Can play and has played tackle and end. Has first-step quickness and good athleticism. Can be disruptive inside with his quickness. Shoots gaps and changes directions well and can get through trash. Smallest but most athletic and quickest of the three Alabama senior linemen.

Negatives: Lacks the great edge speed teams want in an end and the size and bulk they want inside. Consistency has been lacking in the past. Tends to get too upright, making it much easier to block and move him. Has had some neck problems.

Summary: Is not quite a true tackle or end but should be selected as a combination guy who could play both.
