The Toronto Maple Leafs hold the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft with the hopes of finding a franchise-altering prospect.
Forward Gavin McKenna is the expected pick, but it's anyone's guess who the Leafs will take with the selection.
McKenna enters the draft as the consensus top prospect after a standout season at Penn State University, where he recorded 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in 35 games.
The San Jose Sharks own the No. 2 selection, two years after taking Macklin Celebrini first overall. San Jose could target Swedish winger Ivar Stenberg or right-shot defenseman Chase Reid. Reid, a premier puck-mover from Sault Ste. Marie, posted 48 points in 45 OHL games this past season and would help solidify the Sharks' blue line alongside their young core.
The Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks round out the top four picks of the first round.

Round 1 of the 2026 NHL Draft will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, June 26. Rounds 2-7 will begin on Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. ET.
