Trade rumors are starting to heat up surrounding the Chicago Bears just a week before free agency kicks off. The Bears have several notable names who could be dealt, including linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and wide receiver DJ Moore, but they're also being linked to Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
There's a growing belief around the league that the Raiders will trade Crosby this week, and the Bears are reportedly "keeping tabs" on him. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero is the latest to link Chicago to Crosby naming the Bears as a fit for the five-time Pro Bowler.
"If I'm thinking who are the teams that make sense for Maxx Crosby," Pelissero said on the Rich Eisen Show. "...a few that would come to mind would be the Chicago Bears, a team that people will remember swung another trade with the Raiders for a high-profile pass rusher in Khalil Mack some years ago. They feel like they're close, they were right there at the end in the playoffs. Could Maxx Crosby be somebody who puts them over the top and elevates that pass rush. I think that would be a fit."
NFL insider Albert Breer mentioned that a trade package for Crosby likely wouldn't draw what Mack and Micah Parsons did -- two first-round picks among the compensation -- and the Raiders are reportedly interested in Edmunds and might have some interest in Moore for their future potential franchise quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
The Bears also need to improve their pass rush, which was the seventh-worst in the NFL last season with a total of 35 sacks. While Montez Sweat was in double-digits for the first time in a complete season with Chicago, the team needs more out of the unit as a hole, both off the edge and from the interior. But the addition of a superstar like Crosby would certainly go a long way in shoring up a big position of need.
