Jordan Hancock played in all 16 games for the National Champion Buckeyes this past season, a key part of the secondary that held plenty of potent offenses in check. He doesn't have a ton of highlights, which is kind of what you want from a corner anyway. Good coverage and incomplete passes don't generally show up on SportsCenter. He did have a crazy 93-yard pick-six last year against Rutgers, in a play that included a very rare personal foul penalty being called on the quarterback. That's the type of play that gets people to remember cornerbacks, though not quite one that excites NFL scouts.
Bench press: 14 reps
Vertical jump: 41.5”
40-yard dash: 4.42 seconds
Broad jump: 10’6”
I don't expect Hancock to fall anywhere near as far as some of the more pessimistic projections have him. Yes, there seems to be consistent concerns among experts that he gets beat off the line too often and can grab jerseys when he feels he's behind. But that can be coached. On the other hand, you can't coach speed. You don't often get a player as versatile as Hancock with as much raw speed as he has. Yes, maybe he's not ready to be an every-down cover corner in the NFL. But even as a work in progress, Hancock just has way too much talent to fall that far.
Nothing would shock me, because there is so much potential for Hancock in both directions, but I would be surprised if he fell to the seventh round. In fact, I'd be less surprised if a team saw his potential and took him in the third round than if he fell all the way to the seventh.
