Charles Davis is one of the finest football analysts in the game today. He works primarily for NFL Network and the NFL on CBS, but he also makes frequent guest appearances on television, radio, and podcasts. Appearing on a recent episode of the Daily Flock, hosted by Jason La Canfora (another brilliant football mind), Davis shared his thoughts on how the AFC North division stacks up heading into this season.
He believes the Ravens are the clear favorite to win the AFC North.
During other points of this episode (where you can often hear his dog expressing his/her voice as well), Davis extolled the virtues of the Ravens franchise's self-awareness. As he put it, they know who they are and what they do, and this is evident to him whenever he strolls through the team facility.
He later expounded on why Baltimore is the team to beat in the division this season, citing what happened in 2024. That's when they finally got over their recent hump against arch-rival Pittsburgh.
In the most recent seasons, the AFC North division came down to two teams, the Ravens and the Steelers. Just like last season, the two teams will meet again in the finale in 2026.

"I still think it's Baltimore," Davis said. "I really do. I just think that overall the culture of that place, (new head coach) Jesse Minter coming in a little fresh blood with it and the whole deal, that defense- I still think they're the best one in the division."

"All these years, Baltimore to me has had a better roster than everyone else in the division, but you remember how much they struggled with Pittsburgh? Remember they had lost eight of nine and you were sitting there going..."
"Can Lamar beat them?" (La Canfora chimed in)
"That was the question and I would do games with the crew I was on, and we were like 'this doesn't add up.' And then they mashed them a couple seasons ago," Davis continued.
"Late in the season, they clobbered them. And then they clobbered them again in the playoffs. And now we're done with that. Like that monkey's off their back and they're good to go."
