One 2024 NFC playoff team was named a best team fit for Indianapolis Colts free agent safety Julian Blackmon, who remains unsigned.

Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com recently paired notable remaining free agents with a team that fits them best, both from a skill set standpoint and a need standpoint.

For Blackmon, Chadiha chose the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Tampa Bay came into this offseason needing to bolster its defense, and safety remains a position that Blackmon could help fix," wrote Chadiha. "There’s no doubt that Antoine Winfield Jr. is a star. The problem is what the Buccaneers are working with after that. Veterans Jordan Whitehead and Mike Edwards are no longer with the team, and there are only two other safeties on the depth chart with more than one year of experience (Christian Izien and Kaevon Merriweather)."

Blackmon put together a career season in 2023 and tested the free agent market in 2024, but made his way back to Indianapolis on a one-year deal.

That stellar 2023 season for Blackmon came with his playing strong safety, which is where he started this year, but a shoulder injury suffered early on forced him to move to the free safety spot in order to stay on the field.

We would learn after the season that Blackmon played through the 2024 season with a rotator cuff injury, showcasing his toughness and willingness to be on the field.

The Colts spent big on the safety position this offseason, signing Cam Bynum to pair with Nick Cross. However, the depth of this position group still remains a question mark with the NFL draft now behind us.
