The New York Yankees entered the MLB trade deadline with several glaring needs and plenty of pressure to improve a roster battling injuries and inconsistent play. While general manager Brian Cashman did make a pair of notable additions, not everyone believes the Yankees did enough to remain legitimate World Series contenders.
WFAN host Chris “C-Mac” McMonigle was among Cashman’s harshest critics, blasting what he called the Yankees’ “miserable trade deadline” and even referring to the front office’s performance as a “disgrace.”

New York added much-needed offense by acquiring Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals on Sunday before landing outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Both players should help a lineup that has been without Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Cody Bellinger due to injuries.
However, the Yankees failed to address what many considered their two biggest weaknesses.
Behind the plate, New York’s catchers, led by Austin Wells, have combined for a .556 OPS, ranking 29th out of 30 MLB teams. Despite several catchers being available before the deadline, the Yankees stood pat.
The bullpen was another area of concern, yet Cashman did not acquire a single relief pitcher despite months of speculation linking the club to multiple high-leverage arms.

The criticism only intensified after Monday night’s game, when the Yankees surrendered the lead in the eighth inning, further highlighting the need for bullpen reinforcements.
While Garcia and Ramos certainly improve the roster, many believe the Yankees failed to solve the issues that have plagued them throughout the season.
With the Red Sox continuing to surge after an aggressive trade deadline of their own, the Yankees now face increasing pressure in the American League East. Instead of chasing the division title, New York could soon find itself fighting simply to secure a postseason berth if its biggest weaknesses continue to go unaddressed.
For Cashman, the success—or failure—of this deadline will ultimately be judged by what happens over the final two months of the season.
