The New York Giants will be returning to a more run-focused offense this season under first-year head coach John Harbaugh and run-game coordinator Greg Roman.

That's hard to imagine as Big Blue already has a top rushing squad that averaged 129.1 yards per game on the ground last season (5th overall) behind a four-headed attack that featured rookie Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr, Devin Singletary, and quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Those four players are all back and will now be running behind not only an improved offensive line but a multiple Pro Bowl fullback in Patrick Ricard.

Harbaugh's teams in Baltimore have traditionally been near or at the top of the NFL in rushing. Last year, the Ravens were tied for the league lead with Buffalo at 156.6 yards per game.

Giants All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas recently said that the offensive line will be ready to control the trenches in the running game, but will also be trying to confuse defenses and keep them off balance.

"He's got some crazy schemes for us up front to be able to be physical but also, catch the defense slipping," Thomas told Giants Huddle. "They can never predict what we're going to do."

Harbaugh has reiterated several times so far in his short time here that his goals are to win in the trenches on both sides of the football.

With training camp less than a month away, Skattebo is in the final stages of his rehab from a serious lower leg injury in Week 8 last season. Tracy and Singletary are both poised to resume their roles as well.

The biggest addition is probably Ricard, a 300-pound fullback who flattens opponents.

"I've garnished the nickname Pancake Pat because I pride myself in how physical I am, the point of attack and pancaking defenders, and if I can continue to do that, that's all I care about," Ricard said in March. "It does not bother me if I don't get the ball at all. Sometimes I'd rather have these other guys get the balls because they're just, to be honest, they're better. They're more explosive. They can run a lot faster than me, you know, I'm 300 pounds. So, I'd rather have the ball in their hands and me blocking for them."
