Indianapolis Colts' defensive tackle DeForest Buckner will return to the practice field on Wednesday ahead of the team's Week 15 matchup with Seattle.
Buckner will practice in a limited capacity, said head coach Shane Steichen.
Buckner was placed on injured reserve since Week 10 with a neck injury. This is the first week that he is eligible to return.
By practicing on Wednesday, this opens a 21-day window for Buckner to be added back to the 53-man roster. That can occur at any point during that time frame, but he must first be medically cleared to play on Sundays.
Buckner brings a do-it-all presence to the Colts' defensive tackle position. Even with missing the last several games, he is still second on the team in quarterback pressures.
According to PFF, he also ranks 18th among his position group league-wide in run defense tackles, and again, does so while having missed time.
So to state the obvious, the Colts' run defense and pass rush have missed having Buckner in the middle.
In recent games, veteran Chris Wormley has rounded out the defensive tackle rotation, with Grover Stewart, Adetomiwa Adebawore, and Neville Gallimore shouldering the workload at this position.

Colts DT DeForest Buckner will return to practice today on a limited basis. He's still technically on injured reserve with a neck injury.
No Sauce Gardner today, however.
