With looming decisions about key pieces of the Sacramento Kings' roster, teams are beginning to pick up and decline their options before next free agency opens next week.

On Sunday, the Brooklyn Nets declined fifth-year forward Ziaire Williams' $6.25 million option, making him an intriguing target for Sacramento.

Last season, the Stanford product averaged 10.2 points in 56 appearances, shooting at 43/34/85 splits.

After the Nets pre-draft acquisition of Randle and front court-focused draft after Mikel Brown Jr. (No. 6 overall pick), it seemed more likely than not that Williams' tenure in Brooklyn had come to an end.

However, Williams should have no trouble finding a new home, as he played his best basketball of the season down the stretch of last year.

In Williams' 14 games played last March, he averaged 13.3 points per game, shooting the long-ball at a 48.8-percent mark, recording at least one 3-point make in all but two games.

In a rare late-season win for the Nets, Williams notched 23 points, knocking down five 3-pointers and all eight of his free throws against a pesky Detroit Pistons defense.

This marked Williams' second-highest scoring game of the season, trailing a 25-point showing earlier in the year.

Williams' career-best 34.3-percent shooting from distance overall last season did mark a slight increase, but still ranks in the middle of the pack amongst NBA shooters.

Going forward, Williams' ability to consistently knock down perimeter shots will determine his future in the league, as he has definitely displayed the ability to do.

Williams' length and defensive upside is attractive to Sacramento as well, as the roster lacks lanky forwards who can defend on the perimeter.

With Brooklyn, Williams averaged at least one steal per game each of his two seasons with the franchise, utilizing his 6-foot-10 wingspan.

Amidst Williams' strong month of March, he recorded two or more thefts in four consecutive games, including a 6-steal performance against the Golden State Warriors.

When you look at what the Kings need, Williams checks a lot of those boxes, bringing floor spacing and athleticism to a team that ranked dead last in 3-pointers made per game last season (10).

Williams is also very affordable, as he will likely be viewed as a veteran-minimum type guy in his next deal.

With DeMar DeRozan and potentially another veteran like Domantas Sabonis or Zach LaVine on the move, adding supplemental pieces around Darius Acuff Jr. will be crucial.
