Nebraska football will face a top-ten FCS team during the 2026 nonconference schedule. The Huskers will play North Dakota on Sept. 19, which was recently ranked No. 10 in the preseason Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.
The Fighting Hawks are coming off an 8-6 season and were projected to finish fourth in the 2026 Missouri Valley Football Preseason Poll. This will be the second season under head coach Eric Schmidt.
The Missouri Valley is one of the toughest conferences at the FCS level. Six of the league's nine teams were all ranked in the top 16, with South Dakota State ranked the highest at No. 3.
This will be the third time that Nebraska has played the Fighting Hawks. Nebraska holds a 2-0 record against UND, with a 33-0 win in 1961 and a 38-17 victory in 2022, both in Lincoln.
Nebraska plays North Dakota on Saturday, Sept. 19 from Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. CT and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
