Since parting ways with former head coach Jason Kidd, many teams have started monitoring the future of former Duke guard Kyrie Irving. Coming off a serious knee injury at age 34, many expect the Mavericks to flip him to a contender for future draft capital. In a recent mock trade proposed by ESPN, they proposed that Irving would be sent to Detroit.
In return, the Mavericks would receive bruiser Isaiah Stewart, former Michigan guard Caris LeVert, Ron Holland and Detroit's 2026 first-round pick (No. 21 overall). This would give the Mavericks an important trio of role players and three 2026 first-round picks to build around Cooper Flagg with, as Dallas currently holds the No. 9 and No. 30 selections.
On the flip side, Detroit would pair Cade Cunningham with a capable scorer and a former NBA champion as the Pistons aim to redeem themselves after a disappointing second-round exit during the 2025-26 season.
