The future of the NBA is in Brooklyn tonight!

Basketball's next biggest stars are filling up the Barclays Center for the 2026 NBA Draft, which kicks off Tuesday, June 23 at 8 p.m. with the first round.

The Washington Wizards are hoping to select their next franchise player with the No. 1 draft pick, which they won in the draft lottery on May 10. The D.C. team is looking to rebuild after eight-straight losing seasons, and analysts are wondering if they'll go with expected top pick Darryn Peterson, or if his injury history will drop him down in the draft order.

After the Wizards, 24 other NBA teams hold at least one draft pick in the first round.

Follow along for live updates as the draft airs on ESPN and ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Cameron Boozer, 18, has better guidance than most, thanks to former NBA star dad Carlos Boozer. The expected top-three draft pick tells PEOPLE on the draft red carpet that his dad encouraged him to "just enjoy the moment.'

"It goes by quick, so soak it all in," Cameron says his dad told him. "You only get to do this one time, so just be here, be present, enjoy it."

Unlike last year, when Duke phenom Cooper Flagg was the undisputed No. 1 pick, that honor is not quite as secure in 2026 when the Washington Wizards draft first.

NBA analysts suspect Darryn Peterson will be the top selection, but his durability and availability as a player is a question mark, with the Kansas star missing a total of 11 games during the Jayhawk’s 35 game season.

BYU star AJ Dybantsa may be the answer for Washington, or they could go further down the line and select Duke's Cameron Boozer, who opted for the NBA while his twin brother Cayden decided to play another year in Durham.
