After what happened in Chapel Hill between 2010 and 2017, with the disgraceful academic and athletic scandals that hit during those years, you’d think UNC would be absolutely vigilant about potential scandals.

You would be wrong.

Apparently.

UNC is dealing with two potentially bad situations this week, and it’s just Tuesday.

First, football GM Michael Lombardi is on paid administrative leave, following an HR complaint by an unidentified former employee.

And secondly, the program is being investigated by the College Sports Commission, the organization that now handles compliance and enforcement of NCAA and NIL rules.

This comes on top of the embarrassment that popped up last season with Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson, who is 49 years younger than he is.

To be clear, it’s their business, but as we said when the relationship became common knowledge, it wasn’t going to go over well with certain parts of the UNC fan base.

If things get ugly, the Belichick-Hudson relationship will become more of an albatross.

However, nothing is a bigger factor than losing. Last year, Belichick finished UNC 4-8, including embarrassing losses to TCU (48-14), UCF (34-9), Clemson (38-10), Wake Forest (28-12), and finishing with losses to Duke (32-25) and NC State (42-19).

If Belichick has another bad year, the whole house of cards will collapse.
