Mitch Marner scored a playoff goal so astounding he couldn't even believe it originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Mitch Marner's face said it all.
The puck had just found the back of the net, and the former Toronto Maple Leafs star turned Vegas Golden Knights playoff standout couldn't believe it.
Mind you, Marner is one of the best hockey players on the planet. And you don't reach that level without supreme self-belief.
But even with that in mind, Marner was stunned. It's as if he'd just seen someone score one of the coolest goals ever -- and that is what happened. But the person he saw scoring it was himself.
The goal is too good for words to do it justice.

Marner probably didn't plan all of that out at once. Hockey players have to be reactive, and so Marner was gauging the space he had around him at each part of that move.
By the time it all came together, it truly was one of the most impressively skilled goals ever.
Maple Leafs fans will be annoyed by this, of course. Marner was never quite as prolific as desired when he played in the postseason for Toronto.
Now with Vegas, though, Marner looks like he belongs in the playoffs. He and the Golden Knights have advanced to the Western Conference Final, where they'll take on the Colorado Avalanche.
With Marner doing things like this, the Golden Knights will have a chance.
