That’s black-letter NBA law, and even Mitch Johnson acknowledged it. But in perhaps his most fiery postgame comments as the Spurs head coach, Johnson called it “disgusting” that the pushes and bumps and hacks have been allowed to intensify without any extra whistles to go with them. “We don't complain, because we're just going to play,” Johnson said. “We don’t really give a (bleep), excuse my language. But at some stage (Wembanyama) should be protected. And if not, he's going to have to protect himself.”
