The New England Patriots currently aren't exploring a reunion with four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs, according to Mike Vrabel.
On Wednesday, the Patriots' head coach fielded questions from media members, with one asking if the team was considering bringing back its leading receiver from the 2025 season. Vrabel gave a straightforward response that might disappoint fans hoping to see Diggs make a return.
"I wouldn't say anything is off the table... Right now I don't think that that's something that I think we're exploring, but I would never say no," said Vrabel, via Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller.
The Patriots signed veteran wideout Romeo Doubs in free agency, and they agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for A.J. Brown last week. Adding Diggs to the room would have given them arguably the best wide receiving corps in the NFL.
But that move also could have been looked at as financial overkill with Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas and Efton Chism III already on the roster as well.
The one-year marriage between the Patriots and Diggs was a hit for both parties. Diggs helped elevate the offense in a way the team hadn't seen in years, and in turn, it boosted his stat sheet for leverage in future negotiations with other teams.
