Mike Perry vs. Dillon Danis: You wanted it? You got it.
Perry and Danis announced Thursday on social media that they will square off in a welterweight MMA headliner Aug. 29 at Kia Center in Orlando, Fla. The event, known as "Duel: Arena," is being promoted by online crypto casino DuelBet, according to MMA Fighting.
Perry, a UFC veteran, had his first MMA fight in five years on May 16, when he battered Nate Diaz to win by second-round doctor's stoppage TKO in the co-main event of the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano event on Netflix. Prior to that, in the time following his 2021 departure from the UFC, Perry grew his popularity through bare knuckle boxing, going 6-0 in BKFC and earning the promotion's "King of Violence" title.
Danis, whose primary claim to fame is his association with Conor McGregor roughly a decade ago, fought in MMA last year for the first time since June 2019. Danis, former Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace, submitted Warren Spencer in 15 seconds last Aug. 30 at Misfits 22.
