NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, who is now a television host for Good Morning America and a football analyst on Fox, is making waves with an opinion he gave at Sports Business Journal’s 4se today in Manhattan, New York.

SBJ 4se is an annual conference hosted by the SBJ that focuses on the intersection of sports and entertainment, music, fashion, and culture. The event explores potential collaborations and different ways to build revenue opportunities between these industries, often with a goal of reaching a larger audience.

The conference is typically joined by prominent figures within the sports and entertainment world and today, Strahan made a statement that some NFL fans won’t like.

“Sports have leaked into pop culture,” Strahan said. “Taylor Swift is one of the best things to happen to the NFL.”

Strahan’s comments stem from Swift's massive impact on the league, driven by her publicly known relationship with star tight end Travis Kelce. The global pop star has reshaped the NFL’s audience, merging fans from the music side of things into Chiefs Kingdom.

Her NFL presence began in the fall of 2023, when she was watching with Kelce’s mother at Arrowhead Stadium. After almost two full seasons being a dedicated fan, jersey sales and viewership are way up.

At the time, Kelce's jersey sales increased by almost 400%, and the NFL saw a 63% increase in female viewership between the ages of 18 and 49 during the Chiefs and Bears game in September 2023.

Strahan set the single-season sack record in 2001 with 22.5. Now, he’s become a trusted media voice, blending his football expertise with a wise perspective on how to grow America’s favorite sport.
