Miami Dolphins rookies host Special Olympics athletes

The Miami Dolphins had a robust 2026 NFL Draft class — welcoming 13 new draftees to the organization as well as a plethora of undrafted free agents. On Wednesday, those new players had an opportunity to welcome more than fifty Special Olympics athletes to the team’s practice facility for games, autographs and photos.


Travis Wingfield — host of the Drive Time Podcast and Dolphins media member — spoke with multiple Dolphins rookies about what it meant to them to have a chance to give back to the welcoming South Florida community.


“It’s a great opportunity to get mixed in with the kids and show the love back to the community that loves us,” offensive lineman, Kadyn Proctor, said. “It’s so fun. This should be a safe place for them to come and just have fun with us. That’s the least we could do.“


According to Wingfield, Wednesday’s event was just the first of many planned offseason activities “designed to engage the rookie class with the South Florida community,” with goals of “building relationships, fostering understanding and creating meaningful connections that contribute to a more unified South Florida.”
