MT. PLEASANT SACRED HEARTT 4, PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 2

MT. PLEASANT — The Portland St. Patrick baseball team's bid for a second straight state championship ended in a Division 4 state quarterfinal.

A three-run third inning by No. 2-ranked Sacred Heart led to the top-ranked Shamrocks having their season end.

Jerryd Scheurer had a triple and scored a run, while Charlie Thelen and Tyler Thelen each had an RBI for St. Patrick. The Shamrocks reached the quarterfinal with a 9-1 win over Maple City Glen Lake in the regional final.

DEARBORN DIVINE CHILD 12, WILLIAMSTON 2

YPSILANTI — The Hornets were held scoreless until the seventh inning while falling to Dearborn Divine Child in a Division 2 quarterfinal at Eastern Michigan University. Jack Hart drove in the lone runs for the Hornets in the season-ending loss. Divine Child led 4-0 after four innings before taking control with a five-run fifth inning. The Hornets reached the quarterfinal with a 9-4 victory over Trenton.

DETROIT CATHOLIC CENTRAL 8, MASON 0

NORTHVILLE — The Bulldogs quest for a second consecutive regional title ended with a loss to Detroit Catholic Central in a Division 1 regional final. Mason was held to just four hits in the loss. Detroit Catholic Central scored four runs in the opening inning and got a strong performance on the mound from Andrew Mahoney, who finished with 15 strikeouts while tossing a complete game.

SCHOOLCRAFT 3, PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 1

KALAMAZOO — Will Huhn had a hit and RBI and Logan Drysdale added a double and scored a run to lead the Pirates in their Division 3 regional final loss to Schoolcraft. Alex Drysdale added the other hit for P-W.

MOUNT PLEASANT SACRED HEART 12, FULTON 0

MT. PLEASANT — Parker Billings reached base twice, recording the lone hit and drawing a walk for the No. 5-ranked Pirates in their Division 4 regional final loss to No. 2-ranked Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart.
