The New York Mets have gotten off to a rough start this season, at 7-12, they're sitting at the bottom of the NL East and own one of the worst records in baseball.

Amid their struggles so far this season, the Mets have seen a few key lineup starters go down with injuries. Juan Soto has a calf issue, while Jorge Polanco has been nursing an Achilles/ankle injury.

However, according to Mike Puma of The New York Post, Polanco was just recently dealt a new injury, this time a right wrist issue, and his future is in question.

Mets' Jorge Polanco dealt new injury problem on top of Achilles/ankle issue

"Jorge Polanco is now dealing with right wrist soreness," Puma reports. "MRI results are not in yet. Ankle is better today says Carlos Mendoza."

The Mets have been without Polanco due to an Achilles/ankle injury recently, but things are all of a sudden getting worse with this wrist issue.

It was already bad enough that Polanco was dealing with this ankle problem, but now he has a wrist issue, and he could miss even more time.

So far this season, the $40 million slugger the Mets signed to be their new first baseman amid a strange infield shift has struggled mightily, even before these injury issues came to light.

He's posted -0.3 bWAR on the year, with a .179 batting average and a .532 OPS on the year. His struggles are one of the reasons for the Mets' poor record, and now, he might not even get the chance to bounce back right away.

The results of his MRI are uncertain, but this is a worrying update for the Mets infielder. Hopefully for Polanco and the Mets' sake, this isn't a long-term issue. Otherwise, this will be another starter hitting the injured list, and another expensive one at that.
