The Oregon Ducks played host to the Omaha Mavericks on Sunday evening in their final tune-up game before Big Ten conference play resumes in early January. The Ducks came out of the gate on fire from downtown, hitting their first three shots from three, and building up a quick 20-8 lead after about 7 minutes of play. But the Mavs would go on their own little rally, cutting the Oregon lead down to just three points with 8:27 left in the first half. That, however, would be the closest Omaha would get to regaining the lead, as Oregon would build a halftime lead of 10 (thanks to a Wei Lin three at the buzzer), taking a 39-29 lead at the break.

The second half would be all Oregon, with the lead never shrinking below eight points, and ballooning up to as much as 25 with about a minute and a half left in the ballgame, winning the contest by a score of 80-57.

It was a nice, dominant win for the Ducks after a tough loss last Sunday against Gonzaga. Nate Bittle FEASTED on the Omaha bigs, as a player of his caliber should, posting a stat line of 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Takai Simpkins shot well, scoring 15 points on 6-9 from the floor, while Sean Stewart and Ege Demir dominated the boards, combining for 23 rebounds (10 of them on the offensive glass).
All-in-all, a pretty good game for the Ducks. Especially with Oregon’s best player as of late, Kwame Evans Jr., not playing due to an ankle injury. The Ducks will next travel to Maryland to take on the Terrapins on Friday, January 2nd, 2026.
As always, ‘Sco Ducks.
