Pretty hilarious. LA TImes has a story that Mayo has been sued for breach of contract by an LA based jewelry store. Seems April 1 2008 Mayo contracted for them to make him special ordered diamond jewelry valued at over 150K total. He also led them to believe that he would buy more special manufactured items in the future. They made the pieces for Mayo, he never paid them, not clear if he picked up the items or not, but theyr'e suing.

What makes this even funnier is the timeline, Mayo announced for the NBA draft on April 9th( I googled it) 2008, so he bought this 150K jewelry 8 full days before he'd declared. Just how exactly does a college freshman who repeatedly claims to be poor get a jewelry store to make him 150K of jewelry? I think we all know it's because they knew he was turning pro and would make millions, but of course NCAA rules prevent an athlete from doing that, you violate your amateur status. Mayo couldn't wait EIGHT days?
