The Dallas Cowboys still have a pass-rush problem after trading Micah Parsons to the Packers. Owner Jerry Jones wants to spend big to fix it, and his search keeps pointing to Maxx Crosby.
The Las Vegas Raiders almost traded Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this year, but the deal collapsed after his knee didn't clear the team's medical review.
However, Dallas remains interested in him because he is one of the NFL's best defensive ends, finishing with 10 sacks, 73 total tackles, a career-high 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits and his first career interception across 15 games last year.
Jones recently fueled the rumors when NFL Network's Jane Slater asked why the Cowboys stopped pursuing Crosby after the Baltimore trade fell through. Jones took a pause before saying, "We didn't."
Though he refused to elaborate, that three-word answer immediately restarted the trade rumors. And Crosby addressed the noise in an interview with USA Today Sports, and he was absolutely honest about it.
“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby said. “People act like they don’t… if you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not.”
He also brushed off the chatter surrounding him, adding, “I’m getting rehab, the first thing this morning, and all my teammates are looking at it and I’m trying to ignore it. But ultimately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches.”
No actual trade talks have been reported since Jones spoke up, and Crosby has openly said he wants to stay a Raider. Still, Dallas desperately needs an edge rusher to replace Parsons, and Jones refuses to close the door on a big move. Because of that, this rumor isn't going away anytime soon.
