Match Preview: Brentford U21s v Charlton Athletic U21s
Brentford Under-21s return to Wheatsheaf Park on Tuesday when they host Charlton Athletic Under-21s in the Professional Development League (7pm kick-off GMT).
It’s been three weeks since Sam Saunders’ side competed in the league, with Premier League Cup fixtures and international friendlies taking place in the time since.
Tuesday’s clash is the first of a long run of consecutive league games for the west Londoners, who sit fourth in the PDL South table as it stands.
Last time out
Saunders’ side were knocked out of the PL Cup last time out, losing 3-2 to Burnley away from home.
The round of 16 clash didn’t start well for the Bees as they went 2-0 down, however they responded well to make it 2-1 at half-time thanks to a Kyrie Pierre strike.
After going 3-1 down in the second half, the west Londoners again responded well and scored through Michel Boni, however they ultimately couldn’t find a late equaliser.
Previously against Charlton, the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw.
Romelle Donovan scored early in the contest, however a late equaliser from Charlton ensured the points were shared.

Charlton come into Tuesday’s fixture sat 10th in the league table with six wins, six draws and four losses.
It’s been a mixed bag of results for Charlton to start 2026, including a 4-1 loss to Bournemouth and a 2-2 draw with QPR last time out.
The Addicks finished the PL Cup group stage second in Group C, but were knocked out in the round of 16 following a 3-2 loss to Watford.
