Mark Webber was quick to offer his congratulations after Senna Agius secured a Moto2 victory at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday.
Agius, who started the race from fifth on the grid, found himself in the middle of chaos right from the start. A seven-rider collision led to an immediate red flag and forced organisers to shorten the race to just 10 laps.
He later got into a back-and-forth battle with Celestino Vietti for first place before making what proved to be a winning pass two laps from the end. The result marked his third win in this category, adding to previous victories at Silverstone and Phillip Island last year.

Senna Agius celebrated his victory at the United States Grand Prix with a heartfelt message dedicated to someone special.
“More than a win,” Agius wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of him pointing skyward. “A dedication.”
The victory came just two weeks after the passing of Roberto Lunadei, a mechanic from the Intact team who worked closely with Agius.
Among those congratulating him was former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, who commented: “Mega mate.”
British Superbikes champion Kyle Ryde also chimed in, saying: “Mega ride mate, well done.”
Agius couldn’t mark the occasion with his usual podium shoey, as he’s still 20 and the legal drinking age in the US is 21.
“Must still be a baby,” he joked on social media.
Senna Agius’ chances for MotoGP 2027
Agius believes that another good season could get him closer to earning a seat in MotoGP. He had failed to score points before winning in Austin this season, which moved him up to sixth place overall.
Neil Morrison from Motosprint, has been speaking with Agius’ manager about where things stand as they attempt to push their way into what appears like limited space.
Morrison said on Paddock Pass Podcast: “I was speaking to his manager, Chaz Davies. They haven’t completely lost hope of finding Senna a seat in MotoGP for 2027.
“They do know that it is going to be quite tough and there’s limited space available. But this is a very timely win.”
