Kylee Marcum is the new head softball coach at Muskingum University after serving four years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She helped guide the Fighting Muskies to a 103-62 overall record, to four straight OAC Tournament appearances, two NCAA Tournament berths, and a historic NCAA Super Regional run in 2024.
A former standout player and longtime softball coach, she plans to build on the program’s culture of accountability and excellence while continuing to compete for championships and develop student-athlete leaders, according to a release from the university.
"Kylee's passion behind recruitment and competitive performance was evident the entire search process," Muskingum Associate Vice President for Athletics Kari Winters said in the release. "We are really looking forward to the future of Muskingum Softball under her guidance."
Under Marcum's leadership in recruiting and player development, Muskingum has produced high-achieving student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. During her four years on staff, the program earned numerous All-OAC, Academic All-OAC, Academic All-District, and All-Region honors. Among the program's top individual accomplishments, Madelyn Thomas was named the John Wells OAC Pitcher of the Year in 2024, while Cara Taylor earned Gayle Lauth OAC Player of the Year honors this season.

"What has always made Muskingum softball special is the people," Marcum said in the release. "I believe deeply in the culture we have built, one that values connection, ownership, accountability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. That foundation will continue to guide us as we strive to compete for championships while helping our student-athletes grow into confident leaders and successful women. I am proud of what this program has accomplished, excited about where it is headed, and grateful for the opportunity to lead Muskingum softball into its next chapter."
Marcum played for four years at The Ohio State University Newark Campus. Her performance in the circle earned her Ohio Regional Campus Conference Player of the Year in 2012 and 2014, where she amassed 200 strikeouts and had an 0.77 ERA. Before joining Muskingum she served as an assistant varsity coach at New Albany High School and spent a decade with the Ohio Stingrays softball organization as a coach and showcase director. Marcum earned a bachelor's degree in human services from Southern Hampshire University in 2015.
