The Boston Bruins have been a surprise team this season, and a key reason is that multiple players are taking steps forward.

One player who’s having a great season is forward Pavel Zacha who scored twice in Boston’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. Zacha recorded his 21st and 22nd goals of the season as he’s been a key player for the Bruins, which head coach Marco Sturm said is due to him staying with it.

“Good teammates, (he’s) staying with it,” Sturm said on Tuesday as seen on NESN’s postgame overage. “But he’s just feeling it this year. He’s been very good. I give him the support, we give him the support.”

Zacha, meanwhile, credited his linemates for the success. He’s playing alongside Casey Mittelstadt and Viktor Arvidsson.

“We are clicking with our line, and it is a lot of fun playing with them. I also think power play helps a lot, too,” Zacha said. “We’re better on the power play than last year. That kind of gives you more of the looks and points there. Just have to keep building on that.”

Although Zacha’s two goals weren’t enough to get the win, he was happy the team was able to at least get a point.

“Having a point again is good for us,” Zacha said. “But I think even in the third period, we had a good game. It’s just a shame we couldn’t win it in overtime. Overall, I think it was a good team effort. Sway was playing unbelievable.”

The Bruins are now 37-23-8 and are in the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
