World Cup fever has swept the world and support comes in waves from both participating and non-participating countries. In the case of Germany, a Guatemalan journalist told Manuel Neuer, a senior player for the German national football team and Bayern Munich, that there are many Germany fans in Hispanic countries and that they’re happy when Germany does well. Neuer said he and the team loves it when non-Germans pick Germany as their rooting interest in international football competitions.
“It’s very special for us when other nations support us,” Neuer said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “For us it’s important to have fans from all over the world, not just from Germany. It’s so special to have support from Hispanic people as well.”
As someone who supported Bayern and Germany around the time they won major honors in the early-2010s, it feels good to know that Neuer and co appreciate the intense support they get from their global fanbase.
