Author of a monstrous season at PSG, Warren Zaïre-Emery is the ideal 12th man in Luis Enrique's eyes. The French international could nevertheless have a much more rewarding role at Manchester United.
He is the most-used player at PSG in 2025-26. Taking advantage of the absences of Achraf Hakimi and then Fabian Ruiz, Zaïre-Emery has played almost always. First as a right back and then again in his preferred midfield role.
Nevertheless, when the time came to play the Champions League final against Arsenal with a full squad, Luis Enrique made a decisive choice by sending his young French international to the bench.
A 12th man role at PSG that could tire Warren, even though he has always claimed he wanted to spend his entire career in the French capital. For 1998 world champion Frank Leboeuf, a departure would nevertheless be very beneficial for Zaïre-Emery.
The former French defender already imagines the Parisian joining Manchester United, back with a very ambitious project since the appointment of Michael Carrick and qualification for the Champions League after a superb third-place finish in the Premier League.
"I think he would be an excellent signing for Manchester United, but he will need players around him to succeed," the former France defender first said on CBS before continuing.
"I really like Michael Carrick and the work he has done for Manchester United, and he played the same position as Zaïre-Emery. So I'm almost certain he would give him excellent advice to progress. It would be an excellent choice for him. Zaïre-Emery is a warrior. He will sacrifice himself for his team, that's for sure," Leboeuf said.
An idea that the Manchester management will surely validate, given the 21-year-old Parisian midfielder has taken on a new dimension this season. However, PSG has no intention of parting with Zaïre-Emery, making the Frenchman untransferable this summer, like Joao Neves, Vitinha, or Nuno Mendes.
Zaïre-Emery has a market value of 80 million euros (around $92 million) according to Transfermarkt. It does not seem impossible that, at some point, the player could ask to leave to take on a more prominent role elsewhere. After all, he has already won two Champions League titles with PSG and is only 20 years old.
That said, what does seem impossible is that Paris would let him leave. Additionally, it must be considered that Warren is an academy product of the club and is seen as a flag-bearer and an example for the rest of the academy players.
