A man was arrested at a League One football match following allegations he had "hurled racial abuse" towards one of the players, police have said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a man, 20, from the Truro area of Cornwall, was arrested at Plymouth Argyle v Bolton Wanderers match on Friday.
Police said the man was then further arrested for assaulting two emergency workers and criminal damage after assaulting police officers on arrest and causing damage to a camera.
Plymouth Argyle Football Club said in a statement it was aware of multiple reports of racial abuse towards one of its players from an Argle fan which was "completely unacceptable".
The club also said it was also aware of racial abuse to a food vendor outside the stadium.
The statement said: "This is not the first incident of this nature towards a player or staff member this season and it is completely unacceptable.
"We remain committed to ensuring Home Park is a place for everyone and will continue to stand against racism and discrimination of any form.
"Something in football needs to change, and we will stand at the heart of it to ensure that change happens."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police added: "The suspect was held in custody overnight, interviewed and has been bailed for further inquiries."
