Malen joins Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo in Serie A’s history books


Roma beat Hellas Verona 2-0 at the Bentegodi Stadium thanks to goals from Malen and El Shaarawy, flying to third place, a sign of qualification for next season’s Champions League.


The Giallorossi finished the season with 73 points, their best season since 2018-19. The last time they did better was in 2017-18 under Eusebio Di Francesco (77 points).


The star of the second half of the season was Donyell Malen: 14 goals and 2 assists in just 18 Serie A appearances. A true inspiration.


Donyell Malen has had a devastating impact on Roma. The Dutch striker led the Giallorossi to the Champions League.


As reported by Opta, the former Aston Villa striker, in the three-point era, is one of three players who, along with Ibrahimovic (15 in 19 in 2020/21) and Ronaldo (14 in 19 in 1998/99), have scored the most goals (14 in 18 games) while playing fewer than 20 matches. Astonishing.
