Mainz confirm Silas has suffered a serious injury
Silas Katompa Mvumpa faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being forced off during Mainz's 0-0 draw with SK Sigma Olomouc in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
Examinations have confirmed that the Mainz forward suffered fractures to both the tibia and fibula in his left leg, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.
Silas will be flown back to Mainz via a special air ambulance and will undergo surgery upon his return.
Given the severity of the injury, he is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
