Having completed a perfect 31-0 regular season, the 19th-ranked Miami RedHawks enter the Mid-American Conference tournament March 12-14 at Cleveland's Rocket Arena as the No. 1 seed, seeking the league's NCAA tournament automatic bid.
The RedHawks, the only undefeated Div. I men's basketball team in the nation, open the MAC tourney Thurs., March 12 against UMass.
Earlier this season, the RedHawks (18-0 MAC) handed the Akron Zips (26-5, 17-1 MAC) their only conference loss of the season. The Zips are the No. 2 seed in the MAC tournament.
The Kent State Golden Flashes (23-8, 14-4 MAC) are the No. 3 seed in the tournament, and the Toledo Rockets (17-14, 11-7 MAC) are the No. 4 seed.
The teams that are Nos. 5-8 seeds in the tournament are the Bowling Green Falcons (18-13, 9-9 MAC), the Ohio Bobcats (15-16, 9-9 MAC), the Buffalo Bulls (17-14, 7-11 MAC) and the UMass Minutemen (16-15, 7-11 MAC).
