The NBA announced that Evan Mobley has won the 2024-25 Defensive Player of the Year award. He was one of three finalists, along with Dyson Daniels and Draymond Green.

That was a point of contention among the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite being the league's top defense and in first place for about every meaningful category, nobody from their league-best roster was nominated for an award besides Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with MVP.

In the full ballot results, Lu Dort finished in fourth place. He finished with 109 voting points. He tallied 11 first-place votes, 12 second-place votes and 18 third-place votes. Gilgeous-Alexander also had a single second-place vote worth three points.

While he fell short for Defensive Player of the Year, the voting results guarantee Dort will make one of the two All-Defensive Teams for the first time in his career. Perhaps another Thunder player could join him as the NBA's top defense has earned at least two of the 10 spots.
