Carson Hocevar has never been accused of driving conservatively.
The 23-year-old Spire Motorsports driver has quickly built a reputation as one of NASCAR’s most aggressive young racers, earning both praise and criticism along the way. On Sunday at Pocono Raceway, a statistic shared during Prime Video’s pre-race coverage offered a striking look at just how often Hocevar has found himself in the middle of the action this season.
According to the graphic discussed during Prime’s broadcast, Hocevar has been involved in 21 incidents with 30 different drivers through the first half of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.
The number immediately became a talking point among fans on social media, where reactions ranged from disbelief to admiration.
While the statistic does not distinguish between incidents Hocevar caused and incidents in which he was simply collected, it nevertheless paints a picture of a driver who rarely goes unnoticed on the racetrack.
And for many NASCAR fans, the figure only reinforced an opinion they already held.
The timing of the statistic is notable given several recent moments that have kept Hocevar at the center of NASCAR conversations.
Just last weekend at Michigan International Speedway, Hocevar was involved in the Lap 83 restart crash that triggered a nine-car pileup. The incident eliminated several contenders and led to criticism from a number of drivers afterward.
Earlier this season, Hocevar was also involved in a last-lap crash during a Daytona Duel race while battling near the front of the field.
Those moments, combined with several other run-ins throughout the season, have helped create the image of a driver who consistently races on the edge.
Of course, Hocevar’s supporters would argue that same aggressive approach is also a major reason for his success.
The Portage, Michigan, native entered Pocono firmly in the playoff conversation and continues to establish himself as one of the sport’s emerging talents. Drivers who race aggressively often generate controversy, but they also tend to generate attention.
Few drivers in the garage have done more of both this season than Hocevar.
Not surprisingly, the reactions online reflected the divide that has followed Hocevar throughout much of his young Cup Series career.
Some fans viewed the number as evidence that Hocevar has been involved in too many on-track incidents.
“Yep, He is a menace and shows zero respect for other drivers,” one fan wrote.
“He’s a wrecking ball,” another added.
Others questioned what exactly qualified as an incident and whether the statistic unfairly painted Hocevar in a negative light.
“I went back and only counted 11. Still not good, but I’m interested what they count as an ‘incident,'” one fan posted.
Another defended the young driver by pointing out that many NASCAR veterans were involved in plenty of accidents early in their careers before becoming established stars.
Perhaps the most telling reaction came from a fan who simply wrote: “Love him or hate him.”
That may be the most accurate summary of Hocevar’s 2026 season.
Whether fans see him as reckless, fearless, or somewhere in between, the statistic highlighted on Prime’s broadcast made one thing clear: few drivers have generated more discussion across NASCAR this year than Carson Hocevar.
