In the name, image, and likeness era, college sports programs have shelled out for top recruits across the country. Meanwhile, high-profile names, like Texas quarterback Arch Manning, have reached NIL earnings in the millions—and growing—as more dollars flow into football and other sports.
Texas hasn’t been shy in their spending. And according to Sports Casting Bets, that has remained the case in terms of Texas’ recent football recruiting efforts. In fact, Texas spent the most on the NCAA Transfer Portal back in January—a whopping $23 million, to be precise.
Ohio State ($20 million) and Oregon ($19 million) were second and third on the list.

“… The Longhorns benefit from a massive alumni base, ultra-wealthy individual donors, and corporate partnerships that scale far beyond most programs. That money flows through a combination of established collectives and direct institutional planning tied to revenue sharing. What truly separates Texas is alignment. Boosters, administrators, and football leadership operate with the same priorities. NIL decisions are made quickly, deals are structured cleanly, and money is available before players enter the portal. Texas is not scrambling to raise funds in January. The budget is already there.”
