LeBron James draws Muhammad Ali comparison by NBA legend's agent originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
LeBron James has spent over two decades playing in the NBA. Even at this age, there is no stopping when he is in the groove. As the four-time NBA champion heads into an uncertain phase of his career, his agent, Rich Paul, claims that the NBA legend belongs in the same conversation as Muhammad Ali.
During his appearance on NBA Courtside, Paul reflected on the career of his dear friend and said that Bron has reached a stage in his career where, even when he loses, he is embraced by his fans, just as Ali once was.
“I always looked at LeBron as more of what I would call the people’s champion, like Muhammad Ali. Even when he lost, I feel like people really embraced him,” Paul said.

Paul's description of Bron stands out as the Lakers star has been out and out for his people. Along with his career, Bron has always spoken regarding various social and political issues, including his stance against racial injustice. He also founded I PROMISE School in Akron.

LeBron James' agent reveals NBA star's return to Cleveland
LeBron James was born in Akron, Ohio, and was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, despite individual accolades, an NBA championship was missing in his first stint with the Cavs. In July 2010, he became a free agent and signed with the Miami Heat, where he won two NBA championships.
Bron went back to Cleveland and delivered a championship in 2016. It was an iconic NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
During the same conversation, Rich Paul shared thoughts on the decision that brought Bron back to Cleveland in 2014. According to Paul, it was the "best situation" to return home and deliver for his people.
"Well, I mean, we were just having a conversation and I was just like, 'Look, I think this is probably the best situation. It may not happen overnight, but if you win, if you win one time in Cleveland, there's nothing else to be done,'" Paul said. "Cause he already had rings. Whether you have two, four, six, 18, whatever, you're a champion."
Even today, many are still anticipating a potential third stint with the Cavs for LeBron. With the likes of Donovan Mitchell and James Harden around, the addition of their homeboy could do wonders for them. Moreover, even for LeBron, the idea of winning his potential fifth NBA title in Cleveland would seem like a storybook ending.
