The New England Patriots reportedly agreed to a four-year, $70 million deal with free agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs on Tuesday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. However, the latest addition to the wide receivers room isn't expected to stop the team from pursuing their top free agent target, A.J. Brown.

MassLive's Karen Guregian shared a key update on social media after the Doubs news broke.

"I'm told the Romeo Doubs signing won't necessarily preclude the Patriots from continuing to pursue A.J. Brown," Guregian posted on X.

Brown is a player who has been on the Patriots' radar throughout the offseason, but the team has failed to agree on a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles during negotiations. The Eagles are seeking a hefty price tag for Brown due to the quality of the player and the amount of dead money the team would be forced to take on ahead of June 1.

Brown would add a true No. 1 weapon on offense for the Patriots, which is arguably the team's biggest need this offseason. There's still a chance that they can get a deal done, but as of right now, the Eagles don't have any reason to trade Brown before the post-June 1 designation, when they'll save the most money.
