Jaxson Dart's former college coach believes he is a perfect match for New York Giants.

The Giants traded back into the first round of the 2025 NFL draft last week to grab Dart, a player they had coveted throughout the predraft process.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin believes the Giants are the perfect landing spot for Dart for two reasons. First, he will be coached by head coach Brian Daboll and his staff, and second, he will make a productive tandem with star wide receiver Malik Nabers.

"I talked to Jaxson yesterday," Kiffin told Steve Serby of the New York Post this week. "He said Brian's been calling him 10 times a day, and when he went there to New York, he felt really good about their interaction there together, too."

The Giants finally have a quarterback who can throw the deep ball and make the big play. Dart will make good use of the speedy Nabers.

Kiffin expects Dart and Nabers will get to know each other very quickly.

"I think he’ll work so hard from Day 1 with him (Nabers), and he'll fly to wherever he is in the offseason to work with him and get down their throws and timing and everything. They'll be an amazing pair for a long time to come," said Kiffin.

First things first, however. Dart isn't expected to be the team's starter until he's ready. The Giants plan on integrating him slowly into the mix. Until then, Russell Wilson will be the starter and Jameis Winston will be the primary backup.

"I think that’s great to have Russell in the room and for him to learn from him," Kiffin said. "He's someone that’s done it for so long. From what I understand, does a phenomenal job preparing for the games, so I think that’s awesome for him."

Dart will also benefit from having another former Ole Miss quarterback around -- Giants great Eli Manning, who has taken a vested interest in Dart's career. The moment won't be too big for Dart with all of these experienced hands on him.

"I think he’ll do well," Kiffin added. "I think '’'cause he's really genuine. What you see is what you get and you'll really like him. I know you guys are tough at times, but I think he’ll do really well."

Many experts see the drafting of Dart as a turning point in Giants history. After a decade of losing, they need a savior to show them the way again.

"He's a winner -- he’s a winner in life, and he's a winner on the field," Kiffin said. "He's gonna always rise to the top."

And hopefully, he takes the Giants with him.
