Lando Norris is known for his playful nature both on and off the track, but even he has his limits when it comes to running jokes. In a recent interview, Norris was asked to complete the lyrics to the viral song,
“It’s Friday then, it’s Saturday, Sunday what…” — a tune he famously sang over team radio during Free Practice 1 at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix. However, this time, the McLaren star made it clear he’s had enough.
“Oh my god, I hate… this so much,” Lando laughed, visibly cringing at the prompt. He added a cheeky disclaimer, saying he’s heard it too many times: “To all the people in the world, please never play that song when you see me. Thank you very much. Disclaimer, I’ve heard enough of it.”
The “It’s Friday Then” moment became one of the standout clips from Norris’ early F1 career, embodying his carefree spirit and winning him even more fans. However, as his profile has skyrocketed over the past few seasons — becoming a race winner and a serious title contender — it seems the once-funny anthem has turned into a never-ending echo he can’t escape.

The song, originally “Push The Feeling On” by Nightcrawlers (with its viral remix by Riton and Nightcrawlers featuring Mufasa and Hypeman, was already a social media sensation before Norris’s rendition took it to the F1 world. Since then, it’s followed him at fan meets, media days, and even during Grand Prix weekends.
Another song that has become closely associated with Norris is “Stop It” by Fisher. At the 2020 Portuguese GP during FP3, when his engineer asked him for a routine radio check, Norris cheekily sang, “I’m moving up and down, side to side, like a rollercoaster.”

While the 24-year-old is always quick with a joke, his recent comments show that even the most lighthearted memes have a shelf life — especially when you’re trying to carve out a serious legacy in F1. For now, Lando fans might want to find a new anthem… before he starts handing out earplugs.
