Lakers’ LeBron James gets fresh $50M contract prediction after Austin Reaves deal originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

After Austin Reaves signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, there seems to be a real chance that Los Angeles is going to run it back.

The Lakers, who still have a very talented team, probably need a bit more to be a contender in a tough Western Conference.

The question for James now is whether he's willing to take a pay cut to help them build out the remainder of their roster, with one reporter in Los Angeles recently suggesting that he could take a two-year, $50 million deal. James would have a no-trade clause and a player option.

"I'm gonna throw this out there: Lebron comes back on a two year deal at $25M per season with a player option and a no trade clause. I'm negotiating the deal right there,” Brad Turner said.

$25 million per year for a player of James' caliber, even at this age, isn't outrageous. I assume the Lakers would like to have him for a lot cheaper, but I don't think that's going to happen.

If the Lakers aren't at least willing to be competitive with their offer, there's probably a likelier chance that he's going to end up with a different team.
