The Ada High School girls tennis team won its own Ada Tournament Monday to kickstart the 2026 spring season.

The Lady Cougars finished with 29 team points, while Duncan was runner-up with 20. Rounding out the top five were Crossings Christian with 19, the Byng Lady Pirates with 13 and Durant with 12.

In the boys standings, the Byng Pirates finished in a tie for third place with Elk City with 17 points. Ada was close behind with 15 points. Crossings Christian won the boys championship with 30 points.

The Ada boys return to action March 23 at the Duncan Tournament, hosted by the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The Ada girls will compete in the Duncan Tournament on March 25.

The Byng boys and girls teams will host their own tournament March 23 at the Ada Tennis Center before competing in the Pauls Valley Tournament on March 27, also at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

ADA GIRLS

Ada swept both doubles championships.

The team of Taylor Cook and Ava Moon won the No. 1 Doubles championship with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over the Byng pair of Abi Canada and Emily Holloway.

In No. 2 Doubles, Ada’s Baylee Boatwright and Channing Ballard turned back Campbell Cryer and Kate Lovelace of Crossings Christian 6-4, 6-3 in the title match.

Ada senior Kylee Witt captured the No. 1 Singles championship with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Macy Hays of Crossings Christian.

In No. 2 Singles, Ada’s Sydney Layton pushed past Hannah Moore of Harrah 7-5, 6-3 to claim third place.

BYNG GIRLS

Byng’s No. 2 Doubles duo of Naomi Kreis and Landry Wilson defeated Collins Budowsky and Bella Reyes of Duncan 6-2, 6-3 in the third-place match.

Byng’s singles players each finished seventh. Kylee Hood defeated Erica Galvez of McAlester 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 Singles, and Kendal McCarty rallied past Taylor Williams of McAlester 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 in No. 2 Singles.

ADA BOYS

In a thrilling local matchup, the Ada team of Drake Cody and Cedar Thomas needed three sets to edge the Byng combo of Cannon Leslie and Brayden Mornhinweg 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 for third place.

Ada’s Gus Byrd battled his way to the third-place match in No. 1 Singles before falling 6-2, 6-0 to Duncan’s River Tate.

Corbin Smith secured fifth place in No. 2 Singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over McAlester’s Aaron Hall.

The Ada team of Matthew Anderson and Owen Moon also finished fifth after a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Durant’s Blake Preston and Gaius Sanchez.

BYNG BOYS

Byng’s Adam Hensley defeated Kade Duncan of Elk City 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 in a tightly contested No. 2 Singles third-place match.

In No. 1 Doubles, the Byng pair of Cole Harrison and Hayden Ware rallied past Quinn Brewer and Rafe Caslow of Elk City 5-7, 7-5, 12-10 in one of the most tense matchups of the day.

Jacob Holloway secured fifth place in No. 1 Singles with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Caleb Whaley of McAlester.
