Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has a new team. After being released on Wednesday, he is now a member of the Minnesota Vikings, a move that seemed inevitable.
He officially signed a one-year contract with the Vikings. The deal is for the league minimum, which is about $1.3 million. He is guaranteed $36.8 million in 2026, $35.5 million of which the Cardinals must still pay.
Per multiple reports, his contract includes a no-tag clause, which means that in 2027 the Vikings will not be able to use the franchise or transition tags on him when he becomes a free agent.
He is reunited with cornerback Byron Murphy. Murray and Murphy were the Cardinals' first two selections in the 2019 draft.
He will now get to compete for the starting quarterback job with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy.
He played seven seasons for the Cardinals. He only played in five games last season before suffering a foot injury that ultimately ended his season.
The Kyler Murray era is over and it could be beginning in Minnesota. While he isn't a Cardinal anymore, we will follow his play in Minnesota for the coming season.
