With their final pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the New York Giants selected cornerback Korie Black out of Oklahoma State.

Black is a developmental talent who will likely spend his rookie season working with the special teams unit while improving some of the weaker aspects of his game. He seems to understand that and is ready to put in the work to show the Giants what he is truly capable of.

One of Black's biggest assets is his speed; he runs a 4.3 40-yard dash.

"I feel like it will help me with my whole game as far as just like playing defense, corner, then also special teams as well," he told reporters. "Just being able to really play as far as corner, just being able to have makeup speed if that's needed and stuff like that. Just playing fast as well like on special teams, just being able to get down the field fast."

Black says he's always been the fastest guy on his team and is ready for some friendly competition in New York.

He also discussed his time as a member of the special teams unit at Oklahoma State. When he arrived on campus, he was undersized and playing defense was a struggle. Coming into the NFL, he faces a similar transition where he needs to develop some of his defensive skills before he's ready.

The conversation about playing on special teams was discussed during his top-30 visit, and Black would welcome the opportunity.

"Just showing that I could play defense, but coming in, you know, just having to develop, learn, and stuff like that. Special teams was a big thing of just, again, getting my feet wet for this new level that I'll be playing at. And using my athletic ability would be beneficial as well for me on special teams," he said.

Black's size and speed, combined with his coachability, make him a fabulous addition to the team. He will develop on special teams, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him on the field for defensive snaps at some point this fall.
