SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — One of the toughest parts of my job is choosing who takes home the player of the week nomination every week.
Currently we have someone in the Concho Valley chasing the Texas High school football single single rushing record. While the other, is taking starting snaps for Grape Creek in the backfield full time for the first time this season.
Up first, Grape Creek’s Darrel West had himself a career night. Five total touchdown, 4 of which coming through the air(1) on the on the ground(3), while housing an 82 yard punt return touchdown. A fantastic night for West and Grape Creek walking away with the 52-14 win.
And the other Co Player of the week nominee, for a 4th time this season in eight weeks, Christian Villareal from Ozona. Another masterful performance, 34 carries, 410 yards and six touchdowns bringing his total on the season to 2,400+ rushing yards and 35 touchdowns. The TX high school record being 4,045 set back in the 50’s.
Congrats to these two, and keep up the fantastic seasons.
