Arizona State football head coach Kenny Dillingham did not need the transfer portal this time.
Dillingham's latest Sun Devil prospect addition was born with deep ASU ties. That prospect is Dillingham's second child, another boy.
Dillingham announced the birth on his Instagram account:
With the transfer portal opening up in recent days, many have had high praise for Dillingham's activity in the portal. Dillingham has strung together the current No. 5 transfer portal class in the country. Now it is revealed that this success has been found even when balancing responsibilities of welcoming a newborn.
Dillingham has mentioned during his ASU tenure that his family being close to him in Tempe has helped shape who he is as a person and coach. He even cited his family as being a reason he did not take other coaching jobs that he was linked to this season and offseason:
Dillingham, a graduate of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, was born in Phoenix. He began his coaching career at Chaparral too, when an injury during his senior year forced him to coach for the program instead of play that year.
Now, Dillingham has added to his family dynamic.
After coaching at his high school alma mater, Dillingham was an offensive assistant for ASU from 2014-15. He then left the state for other FBS coaching jobs, but since coming back home to the Phoenix area as ASU head coach, he has a 22-17 record with the Sun Devils in three seasons. ASU was 13-16 in the prior three seasons.
